In October of 2022 I had a “studio visit” (in quotes because we were not in my studio, but at Caldera) with Bogosi Sekhukhuni. [Put some things here about Bogosi’s art and why it’s so cool].
We talked about legibility, embodied knowledge, and the transmission of ideas. I told him about the 4chan bros who claim that they’re doing magic when they create and share memes. Bogosi wondered if there might be some unsettling truth to that.
If we can use western science/psychology to trace the transmission of an idea, does that negate the reality that its movement was put into the world as a spell? or that it worked?
